U.S. ponders response to cyber attack on Sony said to be led by North Korea

A new event happening is the North Korea hack on the entertainment empire, Sony. Recently, the hack has been linked to North Korea. The purpose was to pull the movie The Interview (2014). The movie, which features Seth Rogan and James Franco, is about a pair of idiot new reporters who go to kill the president of North Korea, Kim Jung Un. North Korea responded quickly and stated how this is an act of terrorism. Honestly, I'm even surpriesd they found out about it. North Korea is so far behind our technology that other countries see them as something to laugh at. I do not think the movie should have even been made, but after seeing it, I can see it as one of the funniest movies I have every seen. The movie does make fun of Asians a lot throughout the film, but not as much as Kim Jung Un. The scene where he gets blown up by a tank missile is a slap in the face for all North Koreans, who see him as the all great and powerful leader. The movie is something that should not even happened in the first place. James Franco and Seth Rogan are famous for making fun of political icons, such as President Obama, and the United States congress, but making a movie about killing the leader of the country you are not a part of is an act of war. I personally think that Sony should have refused to make the movie and never released it. I think that it was all fake. I believe that after the movie was announced people had mixed opinions about the movie and refused to see it for its nature. So Sony took advantage of it and staged the whole hacking so people will demand for the movie to come back and be released. The movie was down for two days before going back to its original release. This generated a lot of money and a new release worldwide. Coincidence, I think not.

"Hunger Games" salute now banned by Thailand's military leaders

On May 22, Thailand's military took over the government and imposed martial law. The popular new Hunger Games movie has become very popular over seas and generated over 400 million dollars in revenue. Because of its popularity, and its message about protesting, has become the center of attention for activists in Thailand to use the popular "three-finger symbol" as a symbol for their protests. The military government has banned the symbol and the movie from being shown in Thailand because of the start of protests. I think that this is not right. Since we do not have the same laws as Thailand, and since they are under a military dictatorship, there is nothing we can really say about this. If this happened in the United States, people would fight for their freedom of speech and their right to an opinion, but since this is happening in a country with different laws and views, we cannot really stop them even though it is wrong. It is not right to ban a popular movie, because it has a symbol that is being used for protests.

Why Hit Horror Movie Has Rattled a Catholic Diocese

Many movies and television show's film locations are affected by the success of such films. People want to see the real places of homes or stores that are featured in their favorite movies. In Beijing, a movie called "The House that never Dies" (2014)has caused many people to visit the house the movie is based on, which is supposedly haunted. Even though the house is abandoned, I do not think that it is right for people to trespass on property that is not theirs. All they are doing is just looking at a house that a camera was pointed at. Even though I enjoy seeing things that were in movies, doing something illegal to see it is not a very good thing
The "house that never dies" in Beijing are not the only places affected by this. The television show
"American Horror Story" (2008) featured a haunted house in season one. The house is no longer in           the show, but still has many people going to it. This brought many break ins and trespassing on the                 property. Now, a family moved into the house, but are still bothered by fans of the show. Another                 example is "Breaking Bad" (2008), where many people visit the "home" of Walter White. The                     owner of the home is very annoyed by people trespassing on her property. But, some places                         benefit from this. New Zealand plane sales have skyrocketed when the trilogy of the "Lord of the                 Rings" (2002) was released.

Google Glass Faces A Ban In British Movie Theaters

Google Glass, a new product by Google, Inc., may be banned in British movie theaters. I think it would be a good idea to have it banned, but it may be hard to do so. Movie piracy is an increasing problem recently over the years. Piracy can affect the overall revenue of a movie. An example of this is The Expendables 3 (2014), which was released over the internet a month before release causing over 2 million people to see it. Google Glass could increase the problem of this. Google Glass has the ability to record things on the go, such as a GoPro. In movie theaters, since it is so small, Google Glass can be hard to see on someone's head in a dark theater. Large video cameras are easy to, but a thin white camera on someones head can be hard for someone looking from a distance to see.
Although I would like to see Google Glass out of movie theaters, I do not think people would comply with the overall rule. People will obviously sneak it in through pockets or purses, or even wear it under a hat. People will refuse to be searched, but they may not even be searched at all. Phones, which are able to record, are also allowed into movie theaters. These are not taken up at the entrance, so why would Google Glass be. I hope that the ban passes for Google Glass to be taken out of movie theaters.

Christopher Nolan: 'Interstellar' More Akin to '2001: A Space Odyssey Than Batman movies

Christopher Nolan: 'Interstellar' More Akin to '2001: A Space Odyssey' Than Batman movies

Christopher Nolan's new movie, Interstellar (2014), is said to branch out from the Dark Knight series (2008-2012). The Dark Knight series was a very dark story blend. I think that, since it was so successful in the box office generating over one billion dollars in revenue, that Nolan should use the same concept in Interstellar. Interstellar is about a journey through space to find a habitable planet for earth. If they use the dark, gritty concept from the Dark Knight (2008) it could provide for an excellent story. Imagine the hardships of traveling light years away from Earth on an adventure you may not survive. It makes for a good idea.
Christopher Nolan is a wonderful director for many movies with a dark tone such as Memento (2000) and Reservoir Dogs (1996). All of his movies have been box office successes, so he must be doing something right. I trust that Nolan will do a good job with the movie Interstellar either way. I really enjoyed the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), and feel Interstellar will be amazing.

Art of Moviemaking includes Science

Over the years, animated movies seem to be getting more and more realistic. Though, I feel that these changes are costing too much. Many companies such as DreamWorks are hiring real scientist to help animators create more realistic elements. These scientists are popularly a couple more thousand dollars to afford and start making the budget of the movie rise. The movie Tangled (2010), for examples, has is one of the most realistic looking animated movies of its time, but cost over $260 million to make making it the most expensive animated movie ever made. The movie only made $200 million in the United States making it a "flop". Companies like DreamWorks are focusing more on the elements of design instead of focusing on the available resources.
Since animated movies are becoming more expensive, I think that movies should go back to where animation was made from simple computers or carefully drawn by hand. An examples is Monsters, Inc. (2001). These kinds of movies are entertaining to watch and still get the point across. They do not need to cost over $200 million to create an entertaining film. The same goes for live action movies. Live action movies are starting to dwell away from traditional acting and focusing more on CGI and special effects to make the actors look good. Plus, a smaller budget can bring in more profit. Monster, Inc. (2001) cost $115 million to make. It later made over $250 million. Why do you think movies are costing so much?
